Children must be 2 years old at enrolment.

4-year-old students displaying great potential may be invited to transition to Beginners classes.

Ideal for children starting Irish dance. Students learn posture, foot placement, rhythm, and timing, while building the steps needed for a beginner-grade light jig and reel.

The progression from Beginners is Primary level.

  • 5 + years.

For dancers who have surpassed beginner level. Students learn their primary-grade reel and begin hard shoe dancing, including a basic heavy jig, a basic hornpipe, and the traditional set dance 'St Patrick's Day'.

The progression from Primary is Elementary level.

  • Perfect for adults with no prior experience (or only a little). Learn posture, foot placement, rhythm, and the basics of the light jig and reel at a comfortable pace. Classes also include simple Ceili dances such as “Walls of Limerick” and “Siege of Ennis”.

  • For adults who did Irish dancing in their younger years, who wish to put on their dancing shoes again, or for adults who have previously commenced Beginners classes at Orange Academy of Irish Dance. Students must already be comfortable with performing a beginner grade light jig and reel. This class introduces the slip jig and single jig.

  • For students who have progressed beyond Advanced Beginners. In this class, students will learn a primary grade reel and slip jig and begin hard shoe dances including a basic heavy jig, a basic hornpipe and the traditional set dances 'St Patrick's Day' and 'Blackbird’.
